RJC Basketball Season Wraps up at Regionals

The 2016/2017 RJC basketball season was one of major growth. Coach Mitch Dahl took our crew of 12 girls with mixed experience all the way to conference championships and sealed the deal with a win over Stobart in Duck Lake. They advanced to Regional playoffs in Canora, but lost out  in a tough, but even match to the home team in the first game on Friday. Congratulations to all of our graduating players and good luck to all those who will continue to be part of RJC Basketball in the years to come.

Last weekend, the boys basketball team headed off to regional playoffs in Maidstone.  The first game, saw Rosthern Junior College face off against Meath Park.  The game was neck and neck through 3 quarters, but Meath Park made some clutch 3 pointers to pull away for good in the fourth quarter.  In the bronze medal match, RJC faced Canora, and a similar storyline took place.  After three quarters, the game was within a few points, but Canora made some highlight reel shots to take the win.  Congratulations to the team on a good season with a tournament win and another 2 tournament final appearances.

RJC Curling 2017 season draws to a close

RJC fielded three full curling teams this year entering a Boys’, Girls’, and Mixed team in the conference playoffs in Aberdeen.  Players practiced each Wednesday and competed in some games with other schools throughout the season.  The Girls’ and Mixed teams played well during conference playoffs, but faced some stiff competition and did not advance to Regionals.  The Boys’, however, found a way to advance and competed in Prince Albert the following week before their season came to and end.

RJC 2016 Volleyball Season Comes to an End

We started off with a tournament the first weekend of school and kept working hard ever since. As the season moved forward the girls grew together as a team on and off the court. The team came together at the right time to advance from Conferences in Duck Lake to Regionals in Kinistino. At Regionals they went up against Kinistino and Naicam. The girls played well in both games, but unfortunately did not move ahead. Overall it was a great season for our girls!

The boys volleyball team finished their season at conference playoffs this year.  The team had a solid round robin.  They lost their first match to VCA by 2 points in each of the games.  The second match was against Langham came down to the wire, with a 15-13 third game in favour of Langham.  In the last game the boys beat Ecole Canadienne in two straight sets.  Unfortunately, the boys were one set short of qualifying for the next round.  Congratulations guys on a great season and some exciting volleyball!
