Lentopoly- Curling Funspiel!

The Faith and Life Committee are doing their part to raise money for the Lentopoly fundraiser projects.  These include projects in Guatemala, Alabama, Calgary, Saskatoon and Oliver.  The Committee organized a Funspiel at the local curling rink to put the fun into Fundraising! It was generous supported and sponsored by Wakaw and District EMS.  Proceeds were distributed between the teams depending on the final standings.

The event was a smashing success.  Spirits were high and the competition was fierce!  The best part was the money raised by the students for others in need. Game highlights follow.

Lentopoly 2017 - Game On!

The competition heats up between the 3 teams raising money for the Faith and Life fundraiser - LENTOPOLY!

All the money raised goes to worthy causes.  Students continue to raise money for our Lentopoly projects in Saskatoon, Calgary, Oliver, Alabama, and Guatemala.   To date over $3,000 has been raised, which is good because sponsoring a hot meal at the Calgary Drop-in Centre, which we are doing, costs $2,000.  Students shared in chapel about the Appleby Drive Kids Club, another project target, and highlighted The Gleaners in Oliver, BC, and organization that dries leftover fruit and vegetables for food banks.  Students will visit these projects during ALSO week and forward the donations at that time.

Students are baking pies, shoveling driveways, serving coffee and cookies at church, and planning bottle drives to keep the money flowing so we can meet all of our giving targets.

Each week teams recieve an update in chapel on their progress.  For each 200 dollars raised teams can roll the dice to advance around the Lentopoly game board.  The grade 10/11 team have taken an early lead in the game.

Lentopoly - Faith and Life Fundraiser

RJC students are putting the FUN in fundraising during Lent this year by playing Lentopoly, a game designed by the Faith and Life Committee which features a friendly competition amongst the grade10/11s, the grade 12s and the staff to raise the most money.  Traditionally the season of Lent is a time for fasting, prayer and almsgiving, and the game will be played in that spirit.  Money raised will be used to fund projects in Guatemala, Alabama, Calgary and Saskatoon.  The game will see teams move their pieces around a life sized game board on the walls in the chapel as they raise money.  Students must use their gifts, talents, and creativity to raise the money (they can’t just ask for it) and all the money raised is used for projects outside of the school.
